Lighting your home during Christmas is one of the most beautiful effects you include in your home decoration. And the best part is, there are two methods to actually do this. You can either get an already made light balls from the grocery store or you can do them yourself. If you’d rather go with the latter, then this post is for you as I’ll be explaining to you how to make Christmas holiday DIY Christmas balls.

Needed Tools

First things first, to get your light balls ready, you’ll need some important and not so important tools to get it done. For the important, once you’ll need an outdoor string light that should measure up to 200 lights in every medium-sized ball.

Other than that, you will have to get an inch sized chicken wire(hex mesh) that measures up to two by four sizes in each medium-sized ball.

Then, you will need a plier that you’ll use in cutting the wires and a pair of gloves, to protect your hands against getting injured from the sharp loose ends that will pop out from the wire when being cut. For the not so important tool, you can get a ziplock to secure all the endings of the light strands that link to the wire mesh. Still, it’s not that needed anyways.

Steps To Make A DIY CHRISTMAS LIGHT BALLS

Step 1

The first thing you’ll want to do is to unroll the chicken wire and cut it into a two by four dimension. Once you do this, you will then have an equal-sized ball that measures at up to two-foot diameter.

Step 2

Now, once you’re done cutting the chicken wire, trying bending it into a cylindrical shape by linking all the loose ends of the chicken wire.

Step 3

After that, try to fasten them together as hard as possible, make sure both edges of the chicken wire are equal, and then match up to any two loose ends of the chicken wire.

Step 4

The next thing you would want to do is try and shape them into a spherical ball by twisting the wires across each other. This might not be gotten right at your first try, however, you have to keep trying until you get t right. You can achieve this by picking up about six inches of the chicken wire and try bending it to the topmost area with the help of your hands. Just be careful so you don’t injure yourself.

Step 5

After that, pick up the portion of the chicken wire in which you bent earlier, locate any other wire adjacent to it, and form a pleat with them.

Step 6

As soon as you’ve succeeded in bending the open end of the chicken wire, turn your shaped wire, with the back facing upwards. At the point, try matching the bottom surface of the wire with your foot, so it can be flattened. However, make sure the shape doesn’t change while doing this.

Step 7

Once you’ve done that, wrap your lights all over the chicken wire ball you’ve succeeded in making. You can run the wires anyhow you’d want it to appear.

After making your light balls, you can choose to hang it in your house or on the doorpost, either way, they’ll still look stunning!
